It is finally July! Can you believe it? Summer is flying past! But that means it is Fourth of July week! So happy birthday America! I love this holiday and what American wouldn’t? It is a time filled with family, love, and happiness. And for me, it is also lake time!
This week I will be boating and soaking up that sun while trying not to get too hot in this Texas heat. I don’t know about you but my family participates in a few traditions each year on this day of patriotism. Like for one, I love going out with the family in the morning to a local parade. Everyone is waving flags and local home town heroes come rolling by in antique cars and floats. It is so fun to watch the kids reactions because sometimes they throw out candy! Then after the parade we head out to the lake and start up that grill. Love me some American burgers and diet coke. And then my favorite tradition is pulled out, a fruit salad/cake designed to look like an American flag! It usually looks something like this:
